This project involved a kitchen remodel, family room addition, master bedroom addition, porch, ramada, and storage/work area for a late 1940's ranch house in the Sam Hughes neighborhood in Tucson. The kitchen wall was opened up at the corner to better connect it to the dining and living areas. The existing shed roofline on the north side was extended to the east for the new master bedroom and bike shed, and the living room was expanded to the east as well, with a deep porch shading the large windows facing the yard and new ramada. The idea was to keep the basic proportional character of the original house, but update and adapt it in terms of new spacial organization, textures, and colors.
